Jeff Dabney just called with the news that his grandmother, LUCY DABNEY, is near the last moments of her earthly life. Lucy has a rock solid faith and is ready to go to her ULTIMATE LIFE with God in eternity. Please pray for Inmann and Sandra and the rest of the family.

Also, I’ve uploaded all of Debbie McWilliams pictures for the

Finally, I invite you to pray for this Sunday’s Service. I will be preaching on Nehemiah chapter 8 a message entitled, “Revival and the Word.”

Tuesday Update

July 1, 2008

Carolyn Penland just emailed me the following about her son-in-law.
My son-in-law, Craig Tuggle passed away last night and I ask that you keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.  I am leaving for Decatur.  At this time I don’t know what the arrangements are.  He has suffered so much, but had a strong, unwavering faith. I know he is at peace with the Lord. - Carolyn Penland

I just got word that Bill Gross, father of Irene Allen (wife of Bob Allen our District Superintendent) passed away. The funeral will be Wed., July 2, at 10:00 a.m. at First UMC, New Braunfels. You may reach Irene and Bob at home: 604 Westcrest Drive, Kerrville TX 78028 (830) 896-6718 or at dskdumc@ktc.com.

Let’s keep both these families in our prayers.

Saturday Update

June 28, 2008

Sylvia Rogers sent in the following request:
Julius Langenberg,  Please pray for 2 infections to be cleared up completely by antibiotics and that the doctors will have wisdom from the Lord as to diagnosis and treatment.  He is Rebecca Bootzin’s (Medina School Librarian) father. He has been ill for quite some time and it was feared that it was a stroke however, God is merciful and the doctors believe it to be a Mastoid Infection (behind the ear) and a Maxillary Sinus Infection causing “Positional Vertigo” (this is much better than previously believed and we are thankful).

Inmann Dabney updated us with his mother’s condition:
My Mother, Lucy Dabney is in the hospital in Wichita Falls as the result of a heart attack last Wed. We have run all the tests and the prognosis is not good. At 95 there is nothing that we can do except keep her comfortable. We will be in WF indefinitely but online and available by phone.

Mother has been blessed with crystal clear mental acuity and is fully aware and accepting of her fate. She is an inspiration to be around and as a devout Christian is sure of her salvation. She is fine but the rest of us are just getting by. – Inmann (If you wish to contact Inmann their email is: Sandradabney@aol.com)

Finally, don’t about the SEE YOU AT THE RIVER with Medina UMC, it’s starts at 10 AM at the old Apple Festival Grounds. There will be live music… a gospel presentation… and a picnic! Pray for the HARVEST and the WORKERS OF THE HARVEST.

Thursday Update

June 26, 2008

Praise God… Bill Lacy is home from the hospital.

Also Challie Thornton sent in the following prayer requests:
I went by to see Hough and Joyce LeStourgeon this morning at Hill Top only to learn that she has been in the hospital for several days. Just came from the hospital. Joyce is in rm. 345, west wing. Her problem is heart related, but her voice is so weak I could understand very little of what she was trying to say. Please put both of them on the prayer list.

While I was at Hill Top I went down to see Bob Allen’s father in law. Mr. Groos was dozing. I talked briefly with Mrs. Allen, told her I was from the Medina church, and assured her that they were in our prayers. See you at the river Sunday. - Challie

Finally, Linda Coates went in to see her new neurologist and was really impressed with his manner and wisdom. Let’s keep Linda in our prayers as they try to control her sodium levels while weaning her off this anti-seizure medication.

Update on Bill Lacy, Wade Strothers, and Lucy Dabney

June 24, 2008

Update on Bill Lacy is still in 302b at Methodist Hospital. They were hoping for a short stay, but according to Janet they might be there a couple of days. They want to run some more tests. Pray that his body fights this kidney infection, but also pray that all the red tape (Doctors and Administration) that they’ve been having to deal with will be cut and done away with. He is in room 302b and the direct line to his room is 210-575-7302

Also, Jared Strothers father, Wade Strothers
just had a stroke. No word on how bad it is. His dad is in a Houston Hospital. Jared is our bass player in church.

Finally, Sandra
Dabney sent in the following about Inmann’s mother.

To our family and friends,
This is an email I sent to Inmann’s cousin….am sending it to you FYI and your prayers. Inmann’s mom is 95, still lives in her own home and drives herself to church!!!

Hello Sheila,

Just a note to let you know about Lucy’s hospitalization.

Yesterday, while Sue Kelley was visiting with her she had some chest pain, she took one of her nitroglycerin tablets…30 minutes later she was still having pain, so took another tablet…the pain continued… she then said to Sue ” I need to go to the hospital”

She had followed the Dr’s orders…he had given her these instructions months ago, when he gave her the prescription… he had told her if the tablets did not stop the pain to go to the hospital… Isn’t that classic Lucy? She is amazing!

Sue called Linda, Linda called the dr …he said call EMS and bring her to the hospital.

They did an EKG on the way to the hospital… the EMT said it showed “something” but he could not interpret it. ER doc conferred and called in a cardiologist…we are now waiting to hear from him as to what he has found.

Linda is with her and Ruth will be there today. Inmann and I are waiting to hear from the cardiologist.

Inmann talked to his mom last night and again at about 9:00 this morning…both times she sounded very good…she joked with him about all the attention she was getting. LOL

She has continued to have angina and is now on a morphine drip for the pain.

Our prayer is for Lucy to be free of any fear…specifically, fear of pain…she has had very little physical pain her life, so when it happens it is frightening to her…..she has said she is ready to meet the Lord and is not sure why he is leaving her on this earth so long…again, classic Lucy!

She may very well be home soon working on her crossword puzzles….but whatever happens she is ready and will handle it with Jesus continuing to hold her hand.

Will follow up when I know more.

Love,

Sandra

Bill Lacey, Bill Groos, and the family of Kenneth Greeson

June 24, 2008

Bill Lacey was admitted to Methodist Hospital Room 302B for a serious kidney infection. He’s on an antibiotic drip. He’s in good spirits, but Janet is not leaving his side. (They are such a beautiful married couple) Let’s wrap both Bill and Janet in our prayers.

Sandy Vannatter sent in the following prayer request:
Please pray for the family of Kenneth Greeson of Kerrville.  His wife is Glenda Gollberg Greeson, whose father had the drug store here in Medina.  He died Sunday, June 22.

Finally our District Superintendent (Bob Allen) sent in the following prayer request:
We are getting ready to put my wife’s father into hospice. We went through this with her mom and now five years later, here we go again. His name is William Groos and goes by Bill. He lives at Hilltop Village in Kerrville. He has been at the new Sid Peterson hospital for the past six days and we are waiting for his transfer back to Hilltop. Once he is released from the hospital, hospice can begin.

Bill is 89 years old and is ready to go. We pray for God’s mercy. He is the only father that I have had in my adult life. Really has been my dad since I was 21 years old. So pray for us. Our new grandson is his namesake and we knew that he was hanging on for his birth. Twelve weeks have passed since the birth and we know that he is shutting down his earthly temple. The doctor says 7-10 days. But we all know about Kairos and what He has in store for all of us. Bill cannot swallow as of yesterday and is on IV hydration.
