The Family of Nora Ann Hubble. The Funeral is tomorrow at Grimes Funeral Home in Bandera at 11:00AM followed by a graveside at the West Prong Cemetery on 337. There will be a potluck meal immediately following at Medina United Methodist Church. If you wish to send your condolences you can click on the following link: http://www.grimesfuneralchapels.com/condol.htm

In addition we received some shocking news about a death at a local Emmaus Walk this past weekend: There is an Emmaus Walk of Pilgrims from Fredericksburg, Texas, at Mt. Wesley this week end that needs our prayers. One of the Pilgrims had an accident in the shower this morning and the efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. The lay director on the walk was this Pilgrim’s boss; the Pilgrim had small children.

Finally here’s an update on Baby Rowan: Well Rowan and I are back home again.  He is healing from the surgery and has started back on tpn feeds. His counts are down, but he seems to be feeling pretty well.  The hematologist wants to see him back in his office Monday and will check his blood counts and chemistry then.  Even though he really did handle it well, he was ready to go home and pretty excited to be getting out of those same four walls after two very long hard weeks.  Thanks for your prayers and support while we did this all again.  – Carrie

March 25, 2008

Seven year old: Davis McMullen who had been run over by a truck is slowly improving and needs our prayers. No brain damage, but many broken bones. (From Clara Ann)

Jo Alden is at the Nursing Home in Bandera for rehabilitation. Her son had to go back to North Carolina on Sunday. Let’s keep Jo in our prayers and if you’re in Bandera, stop by for a visit.

This came in from Sandra Vannatter:
Ernest Mayfield today. He had an accident with a radial saw and severly cut his left hand. There was extensive surgery, but it is still possible that the hand will have to be amputated.

Ernest grew up in Medina and now lives in Pipe Creek. He was well known for his auctioneering ability and his work with the Bandera Country Junior Live Stock Show. He is making progress faster than their expectations, he is getting more feeling in the hand now, and he is able to control the one finger that only wanted to curl. His therapist is very pleased with his progress. He said several have called and sent cards! I told him that two churches in Medina and one in Bandera were praying as well as all the individuals.

Let’s pray for the Youth as they try to tie up all the loose ends to present their drama THIS Sunday!

Prayers for the Men’s Group who will be leaving on a overnight camping trip tomorrow!

Here’s the latest on Baby Rowan:
Well, Happy Easter everyone!  Rowan and I unfortunately spent ours on the HEM/ONC floor of Methodist Children’s Hospital.  He came in with another line infection two weeks ago, started iv antibiotics, and went into septic shock the second night here.  He kept spiking temps up to 104 and then dropping down to 95/96.  It was really scary this time for me, and hard on him too.  He shook all night, had trouble breathing and coloring.  Well, they did fluoroscopy scan and discovered that his central line was dislodged and ruptured on the inside of his chest, which is why the antibiotics weren’t working at first.  They weren’t staying in the blood stream, just dispersing into his tissue.  He had surgery to have that line removed right away, and they put in a peripheral iv for the remainder of the 10 day course of antibiotics.  He had a lot of trouble coming out of the anesthesia this time which was different for him, dropping his bp to 42/17 and his sats to 80% whenever they tried to take him off the 02.  We had to keep him on oxygen the rest of the day.  As usual, he also had a lot of trouble with his ivs holding, going through about one a day the first week.  His labs are a little weird again today too, neutrapenic again and his red counts are all low, even the platelets this time.  However, he is finally feeling much better now though.  He has finished the treatment, has had clean cultures, and has kept this iv in for 3 days now.  Tomorrow morning, Monday the 24th, he goes in for a second surgery to have a new Broviac line put in on the other side of his chest.  Then, I think we will finally get to go home.  Brian and the kids have been in Ohio with my family for Spring Break and Easter, so it will be great to get all of us home together again.  Rowan and I had to cancel our trip there with them at the last minute due to this emergency.  He certainly keeps us on our toes.

Easter Sunday 3.23.08

March 24, 2008

What a Easter! We had about a hundred people gather for the SONrise service at Deer Creek Camp and we didn’t have an empty seat in church! I don’t think we’ve ever had so many people in church on Easter Sunday since I’ve been at Medina. It was a joyful time of celebration.

Gladys Dean: Back Surgery this Monday in Kerrville
Our Service men and women and their families (Taylor Dabney and Ryan Ellis)
Jo Alden: She is has been moved to the Bandera Nursing Home for rehabilitation.

Bill,

Subject: Andrea’s Update (today she is 22 yrs old)

Dear Family and Friends around the world,

Andrea turned 22 yrs old today and Lindsay turned 18 on March the 9th.   Be sure to celebrate with your kids on their birthdays—we have learned how precious those birthdays are.

Andrea is still living in her apartment and hopefully about to get a new roommate.   She is doing a great job at her parttime job at our H.E.B. foodstore just a mile from the house.  She is also taking one class at her university (UTSA) and doing quite well and driving without any problem.  She is no longer going to physical therapy at the hospital but she does continue to work out at a new facility called Velocity where they continue to work on her left side strength/walking and overall balance.  The recovery journey continues but she has made amazing progress and keeps pushing forward.  (It has now been a little over 2 yrs since the accident).

Lindsay will graduate from high school this yr and will press on into college this fall.   Final decisions on where she will go are being made now—she’ll either go to UTSA (where Andrea goes) just a couple minutes away or she’ll go to Texas State in San Marcos, TX about 45 minutes from here and where her good ol Dad went to school.

June is back teaching 4th grade this year and just recently found out she will be getting a new principal at her school–so that will be change to work thru.  I continue to do real estate and luckily the San Antonio market is still pretty good so I still have plenty to do.

All of our blessings are because of you all—your love, your prayers, your support, your generosity—we love you all—you can’t imagine the love we have in our hearts for you all.– you saved our little girl.   We wish you all a very blessed, safe, and happy 2008.

PS:  I thought today (Andrea’s birthday) would be a great day for an “Andrea Update”.

Randy, June, Andrea, Lindsay and the family pets

Wednesday 3.12.08

March 12, 2008

Karen and Butch Eby have asked me to pass this along concerning Butch Eby’s brother: Gene

The surgery has been postponed 2 times but hopefully will take place at 5PM. Several scans have been taken on Gene’s throat. There are 2 growths and the anthesologist told him he may come out of surgery with a trachonomty since growth is on his voice box.

Philippians 4::6 reminds us: “Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and suppliciation with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

We are thankful Gene is a child of God and is trusting in Him to take care of him. We are asking for the surgery to be guided by the One that knows Gene so well and loves him greatly and will be ever present. We pray that the growth can be easily removed and that there will be no sign of cancer and the healing process will go quickly and without any problems. We ask that the Lord’s will be done in calming anxous hearts and there will be renewed hope and cheer. Butch and I both spoke briefly with Gene and expressed love and prayers that are uniting us even though not physically present. His voice is hoarse and he is hot and legs are restless and he is hungry. Yet he still says “I thought I was fine; but things do happen.” He is a trouper and knows the Lord is with him and is thankful.

Thanks again for prayers and for passing on to others.

Love in Christ, Karen/Mom

An update about Jo Alden. She had surgery yesterday to debried her infected leg. She’s receiving antibiotic through and IV, but she’s in good spirits.
Also let’s keep Linda Coates and her continued health and recovery.
Finally I received the following email update about JD Ortiz:
I just wanted to give you a quick update from JD’s appointment this morning. The doctor did find a fracture in his face right under his cheek bone and right above his gum line. He said it was a really clean
break and with JD being so young, that the fracture would heal on its own with time. He did go ahead and release JD to normal activity. Thank you again for all of your prayers. God has blessed us in so
many ways, and once again it is just proof that God has laid his healing hands on JD.

  Sincerely,

Heather
