Dear Friends,
My dad’s suffering and pain has ended this morning at 1:06.  Guess he did not want to leave this world on Christmas Day.  My brother and I will be setting all the arrangements for him later today.

Thank you all for your prayers and friendship.

Dear Medina UMC Congregation:

Brian and I cannot begin to thank you all for the overwhelming prayer support and the generous blessing that you have given us. The benevolance check blew us away and came at a time when we truly needed it. Obviously his medical bills and expense of the special formula has affected us greatly. We know that God will show us the way to get through that, and we are so gratful that he was able to use your wonderful Church family as one vehicle toward that end. I am sure you believe with us that Rowan is going to have one of the best testimonies ever heard someday, with all that he has been through already in his short life. He continues to smile, amaze and charm everyone around him, despite the serious medical issues he is dealing with. If he can do it, so can we, but it sure helps to have love and support like you have shown us.

To update you, they removed his central line when he was in the hospital in October/November, due to a serious line infection and we have been attempting to get him to gain on oral and g-tube feeds alone for the last two months at home. Unfortunately he still has not been able to gain back any of the weight though and continues to have some gi bleeding and tummy trouble. They have adjusted his medications and will only give him another week or so of trying this. If he does not gain or loses any more before our next doctor visit, he will have to resume the intravenous central line feeds. Rowan did miraculously make it an entire 8 weeks this time before requiring blood, which is the longest he has ever gone. He was averaging transfusions every 3-4 weeks. However, this week he had a sudden significant drop and did have to have a blood transfusion on Wednesday. He has also suddenly been neutrapenic again, and this time for the last eight weeks. That is a blood condition involving his white cells, specifically the granulocytes being very low. It means that his immune system is compromised and he is more susceptible to infections and less capable of fighting them, so he has had to be pretty secluded to avoid exposure to all the winter bugs going around. This seems to be worsening and his hematologist is concerned with these apparent bone marrow changes. He has scheduled another bone marrow extraction for January 9th so he can see what is going on and determine if it is time to start talking more seriously about a bone marrow transplant.

Speaking of his blood disorders and requirements, we are holding another replacement blood drive and a bone marrow registry for Rowan on January 17th at Harvest Fellowship Church and School in San Antonio. The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will be there from 8:00 to 11:30 and again from 3:00 to 6:00, for donations in his name. If anyone is able to give or simply to spread the word, that would be an awesome blessing. He recieves credits for blood regardless of your blood type. This is something he desperately needs since he has recieved blood from the blood bank so frequently and will likely to continue to. Harvest is located at 1270 North Loop 1604, on the access road, just before HWY 281. The bus will be in the parking lot. If you are not able to make it, you can donate blood at the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center or any other donation location at any time and mention his name to still contribute to his account. The last drive was very successful and we pray that the turnout for this one is great too. Thanks.

Again, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers, support, and the generous contribution to his medical expenses. May you be richly blessed as well and all your needs met. God bless you all. We hope to be able to bring Rowan out to worship with you all one Sunday, just as soon as his counts are better. We can’t wait for you to meet him and to thank you ourselves in person.

In His name,
Carrie and Brian Windham, and Zoe, Ian & Rowan

Marilyn Ashley phoned in a prayer request for 4 year old Jonathan Crowther who is the son of Sherry and Jason Crowther. Little Jonathan is suffering from Auto Immune Deficiency.

Prayer Update for Mon 12.17.07

December 17, 2007

I just got a phone call from Clara Ann.
Laverne is on his way to San Antonio. He has a detached retina. The good news is that the doctor said it can be repaired! Also Clara Ann’s brother is doing OK. They are talking about putting in another stint sometime today. Finally, Clara Ann mentioned that she had a fall while she was in Tomball. She doesn’t think that she damaged her new knee, but her body sure is hurting. The McWilliams would sure appreciate your prayers for them!

Laverne McWilliams having difficulty seeing with right eye

Carole and Ernie Gibson’s daughter (Tanya) – in the hospital for the 4th time this year with breathing problems.

Harold Zirkel is feeling a lot better. They think that he had a blockage somewhere along his GI tract and the nurse mentioned that if he’s able to eat this morning that there is a good chance he will be coming home today. Mary and Harold wish to thank everyone for their prayers.

The Dean Isaacs family and all those that are in grief especially over the Christmas Season.

Our Soldiers and their families.

Taylor and Kandy on their upcoming marriage.

This came in from Ann Leonard a few moments ago: Hi, Mary is doing better and at a Rehbab center.

Roy had an operation on the 13th at Audie and I brought him home yesterday. He told me this am that he wished he could “dance with me”:-), he hates being “useless” as he says, he is so use to being out and taking care of the critters etc. He is not up to visitors yet, does not even want to talk to his kids on the phone, but I told him everyday gets a little bit better! If you could ask for prayers for his speedy recovery and keep the rest to yourself I would be grateful. Thank you for being you:-) Love, Ann

Finally, if you have anything for the January’s Newsletter, we need it THIS WEEK!

Clara Ann McWilliams just called from Tomball. Her brother Herb just had a heart attack. They are not sure exactly what the situation is, but he needs our prayers. Clara Ann has also asked us to pray for Lavern. He’s having some trouble seeing out of right eye. Harold Zirkel is still in the hospital. He’s in pain and on morphine.

Prayer Update 12.15.07

December 15, 2007

Al Zirkel just called and told me that they took Harold in the emergency room at Sid Peterson today. He was suffering from severe abdominal pain. They THINK it’s related to scar tissue from a recent surgery from diverticulitis. Let’s keep him and Mary in our prayers.

Also, let’s continue to prayer for the family of Dean Isaacs. His memorial service is at 11 AM today.

Prayer Update Friday 12.14.07

December 14, 2007

JOY! You guys as a congregation have managed to raise over $2,000 at last Sunday’s Christmas Party to aid little Baby Rowan in his health crisis! In you remember we have been praying for Rowan for the last year and a half.

Here are a couple of prayer request that came in from Loni Culp

Please ask for prayers for my sister-in-law’s mother, Anne Hood.  She is not recovering from her last two surgeries and is struggling with the therapy.  My brother says that he feels she is tired of the life struggle and being in the nursing home. The family needs Our Lords strength and guidance.

Alan Beggs, 79, has been diagnosed with a massive malignant tumor behind his heart, which is causing pressure on his lungs as well as the heart.  They are not giving him much hope and he does not want surgery or any cancer treatments.  He needs peace with our Lord and Savior.

This also came in from Ann Leonard: Please pray for a friend Mary Lovell in University Hospital. She had a bad accident Sat and was rushed to the hospital and required surgery on her leg and stitches on her legs and chin. She did not have a good day today her sister reported to me. Thank you, Ann Leonard

Finally, let’s continue to keep the Dean Isaacs family in our prayers. A reminder that his memorial service is tomorrow at 11 AM at Medina United Methodist Church with a grave side following and a meal at the church

Also don’t forget our Choir is singing their Christmas Cantata THIS Sunday morning and our Children will have their Christmas Program later on that evening at 6 PM!
