Things are coming on FAST at Medina UMC!
The thing I get asked repeatedly is, “When is The Core opening?” and my answer is always the same, “Soon.” The Core will be open for Homecoming Weekend (October 24th at 7:00 AM) for the Homecoming Parade and then Thursday – Saturday from 7 AM to 5 PM.
The Core will enter a float in the Homecoming Parade with Live Music. Come and watch the Parade from The Core!
Since were so close to opening I want to take an opportunity to once again remind you of the VISION we have for the Core.
The Core (Your Coffee House) is:
1. A Non-Profit Coffee House.
· Serving Coffees, Specialty Coffee (including Espressos and Frappachinos.) Ice Tea and Smoothies.
· Pastries (Including Tootie Pies!)
· Snacks and Light Lunches.
· A place to read, relax or visit with friends.
· Free Wi-Fi
· A Family type atmosphere for ALL ages.
2. A Community Gathering Place
· Our “Gathering Room” is available for group meetings. (Book Clubs, Men/Women’s Groups, Support and Recover Networks)
· Movie Nights, Live Performances, and Youth Events
· In the future we would like to provide tutoring and mentoring to the Youth.
3. In the Future… A Youth Center.
· Lots of renovation is required, but we plan on converting the north end of our building to a Youth Center offering supervised games and activities in a safe and constructive environment.
It is my hope and prayer that THE CORE will be a powerful witness to the love and grace of Jesus Christ. I want us to be careful how we portray the Core to the Community. I DO NOT want The Core to be portrayed as a Coffee House run by the Church because the moment we portray it as such… we immediately distance ourselves from the people we hope to reach the most. I’m not saying we should be secretive about it. People will eventually find out and that’s OK. My vision for The Core is that people find Christ not because we cover the walls with Christian symbols, but because they experience the love of Christ through our unselfish service and witness.
Please continue to keep the Core in your prayers.
